The Brief:

  • Allens has moved into the top eight floors of 33 Alfred Street, Sydney’s first skyscraper.

  • The firm leaves Deutsche Bank Place after years, joining A&O Shearman, Lander & Rogers, Maddocks and Pinsent Masons in Circular Quay.

Allens has a new Sydney home. The firm has taken the top eight floors of 33 Alfred Street, the former AMP building in Circular Quay.

The building is a Sydney icon. Built as the city’s first skyscraper, it’s been overhauled to add modern amenity while keeping its original bones. Allens worked with Hassell, CTPG and MPA on the fit-out, which includes a cafe, outdoor terraces and harbour-facing meeting rooms alongside focus and collaboration spaces.

The move takes the firm out of Deutsche Bank Place on Phillip Street, where it had long been based.

Incoming Managing Partner Marc Kemp said:

We are delighted to begin a new chapter in one of Sydney’s most iconic buildings. Our new premises provide us with the infrastructure to collaborate with our clients, work together in interdisciplinary teams and bring focus, creativity and rigour to our clients’ most pressing challenges. As Australia's oldest law firm, having called Sydney home for more than 200 years, we are especially excited by our move to Australia’s first skyscraper.

In the building, Allens sits above neighbours A&O Shearman, Lander & Rogers, Maddocks and Pinsent Masons.
