Baker McKenzie adds two new partners as it expands its energy and tax benches.

  • Sarah Birrell joins Energy in Melbourne from Allens

  • Victoria Lanyon joins Tax in Sydney from King & Wood Mallesons.

Birrell, previously at Allens, brings two decades of experience advising mining, energy and infra clients on projects, JVs, M&A and divestments. She recently advised the NZ Super Fund and TIAA on their stake sale in Victoria’s EastLink toll road operator ConnectEast to the Future Fund.

Meanwhile, at KWM, Lanyon advised multinationals and private equity clients on corporate acquisitions, divestments and complex tax and royalty matters.

Head of Energy Raymond Lou said Birrell “perfectly complements the value we offer clients through a unique understanding of the global energy, mining and infrastructure sectors”.

While Head of Tax Simone Bridges said Lanyon “is well known for her technical excellence and commercial acumen”.
