The Albanese Government has nominated Gina Cass-Gottlieb for a second five-year term as ACCC chair.
The new term would start on 20 March 2027, but it needs state and territory sign-off first.

The Albanese Government has nominated the ACCC chair for reappointment, lining her up for a fresh five-year term from 20 March 2027.
The Government’s now seeking state and territory agreement before recommending the reappointment to Governor-General Sam Mostyn.
She’s a Gilbert + Tobin alum, previously spending 25 years as a senior competition and regulation partner.
Her track record as chair includes:
Implementing the most substantial merger laws in more than 50 years
Reforms to protect Aussies from unfair trading practices
Landmark wins against supermarkets, airlines and digital platforms
Establishing the National Anti-Scam Centre
She’s also a non-executive member of the RBA’s Payments System Board, and she sat on the Financial Regulator Assessment Authority from September 2021 to March 2022.
The Government says the reappointment will give the ACCC certainty over its leadership and strategic direction as it rolls out reforms to product safety and digital platforms.
