The Brief:

  • Clayton Utz has promoted five lawyers to its partnership, effective 1 July 2026.

  • The cohort spans M&A, public sector advisory, product regulation and restructuring across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.

Clayton Utz has named five new partners effective 1 July 2026, with the group covering corporate transactions, regulatory advisory, product liability and commercial disputes.

The new partners are:

  • Mariam Azzo (Sydney, M&A and Impact Investing): Azzo advises on complex M&A, joint ventures and corporate governance across infrastructure, energy and resources. She’ll head the firm’s impact investing practice, backed by a UC Berkeley sustainable capitalism qualification and experience in social justice and child protection.

  • Lisa Houston (Brisbane, M&A and Equity Capital Markets): Houston specialises in public and private M&A and ECM, advising Australian and international clients on corporate law, ASX Listing Rules and Takeovers Panel matters.

  • Sarah Jones (Canberra, Public Sector and Infrastructure Regulatory): Jones advises on regulatory matters and major infrastructure projects, with a niche focus on aviation. She works with airport operators, government agencies and private investors on the frameworks governing airport development and operations.

  • Sheena McKie (Sydney, Product Regulatory and Class Actions): McKie covers product regulatory advisory and class actions across consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and medical technologies, including product safety, recalls and life sciences-specific issues like pricing and reimbursement.

  • Jonathon McRostie (Melbourne, Disputes, Restructuring and Insolvency): McRostie acts for insolvency practitioners, banks and creditors across receiverships, voluntary administration, liquidation and bankruptcy, regularly appearing in State Supreme Courts and the Federal Court.
