The Brief:

  • Same week, same name, same pitch: Legora and Harvey both launch Intake.

  • Each targets in-house teams drowning in requests from the business.

The Harvey v Legora battle has largely felt like one long game of one-upping. This week, they matched each other on a product. Name and all.

Legora and Harvey have each launched Intake, a tool to manage the stream of legal requests hitting in-house teams from across the business.

Legora beat Harvey to the punch, launching on Tuesday. Harvey launched its own on Wednesday.

How they compare

The two products are near-identical.

Both call it a front door. Legora’s is “the agentic legal front door”. Harvey’s is “one front door for every ask”.

Requests come in through the tools staff already use. AI takes the first pass. Lawyers step in where it counts.

  • Legora takes requests from email, Teams, Slack and MCP. Its agent asks the follow-up questions a lawyer would, routes the request to the right team and logs it as a task. The agent preps the work from the team’s playbooks. It can handle routine requests end-to-end and loops in a lawyer for anything complex. Staff don’t need a Legora licence to submit a request.

  • Harvey takes requests from email, Slack, Jira, ServiceNow, iManage, SharePoint, Google Drive and more. It sends each one to an approved AI agent, a Harvey product like Contract Intelligence, or a lawyer, based on rules the legal team sets. Staff don’t need a Harvey seat to submit or track a request.

Harvey built its version with design partners including Carvana, GE Aerospace and Dentsu. Legora is leaning on its legal engineers to learn how each in-house team works and then configure Intake to match.

What they said

Carvana Senior Corporate Counsel Seena Ghebleh said:

“When work comes in after hours or while I’m tied up in meetings, it can apply our playbook and have an initial review ready for my sign-off. As a design partner, we’re helping ensure the product reflects how in-house commercial legal teams actually work.”

Legora VP APJ Heather Paterson said:

“You know the drill, the legal team touches everything - and they receive work from every angle. Requests are non stop, in every channel, with no ability to triage when the ticketing system is only one of those paths. Intake is the agentic legal front door.”
