The Brief:
Corrs has hired competition partner Eloise Morgan from Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May.
Morgan returns to Australia after seven years in London, bringing EU and UK merger control experience as Australia's new mandatory regime beds in.
Corrs Chambers Westgarth has added competition specialist Eloise Morgan as a partner in Sydney, recruiting her from Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May.
Morgan’s been based in London since 2019, spending nearly seven years at Slaughter and May advising on merger control, regulatory investigations, cartel matters and competition and consumer law compliance.
Her deal sheet includes the merger control aspects of The Stars Group’s proposed £10bn global merger with Flutter Entertainment, and advising Calder Group Holdings through an ongoing Competition & Markets Authority investigation.
She’s also advised clients in cartel investigations, rounding out a practice that spans the full sweep of competition law.
Her European merger regime experience is a particular drawcard. Australia's new mandatory merger review framework is live, and Morgan has done this before, having navigated equivalent regimes in the UK and EU.
Corrs CEO Gavin MacLaren said:
“Eloise's domestic and international experience position her well to help our clients navigate increased regulatory scrutiny and achieve their strategic objectives. In particular, her recent experience of the mandatory merger regimes in Europe will be valuable, given the new merger regime in Australia.”
Before heading to London, Morgan spent her junior years at Gilbert + Tobin in the Sydney competition & regulation team.
