The Brief:

  • G+T has hired cyber risk partner Ross Phillipson from A&O Shearman.

  • The move strengthens G+T’s cyber risk offerings

Gilbert + Tobin has bolstered its technology and digital bench, appointing leading cyber risk lawyer Ross Phillipson as a partner.

Phillipson joins from A&O Shearman, where he spent nearly four years as a partner advising on cyber security, privacy, critical infrastructure and digital risk.

He brings more than two decades’ experience across cyber resilience, governance, risk management and incident response, with a client base spanning critical infrastructure, financial services, energy, mining, technology and health.

Chairman Danny Gilbert said the hire reflects the growing urgency of cyber risk for Australian organisations.

“Cyber risk has never been more pressing, and Ross is one of the country’s leading advisers in helping organisations respond to those challenges,” he said.

At G+T, Phillipson will lead a specialist team supporting clients on cyber security, data protection and broader digital risk challenges, as digital threats become a core governance issue for boards and executives.
