The Brief:

  • Hall & Wilcox has poached employment partner Andrew Klein from Holding Redlich in Canberra.

  • Days later, Holding Redlich revealed six disputes hires, led by partners Duncan Travis and Bridget Camilleri.

Hall & Wilcox has nabbed employment and workplace relations partner Andrew Klein from Holding Redlich, boosting its Commonwealth Government bench in Canberra.

But Holding Redlich hasn’t sat still.

The exit

Klein spent nearly five years as a partner at Holding Redlich, after four years at Mills Oakley.

He’s a Commonwealth specialist with 15+ years’ experience advising and representing government clients on employment litigation, workplace investigations and strategic workplace relations.

“Andrew understands the particular challenges government clients face and brings the practical and client-focused approach we value at Hall & Wilcox. That experience will be an asset to clients navigating complex employment-related matters,” said Chief Executive Partner Graydon Dowd.

Klein started on 6 October.

The comeback

Three days later, Holding Redlich unveiled six disputes hires across Melbourne and Brisbane.

Leading the charge is Duncan Travis, who joins in Melbourne from Cornwalls with his team of four in tow.

He’s a disputes veteran who spent more than 22 years at Allens, making partner in 2011. His matter list spans class actions, Royal Commissions and inquiries, ASIC and ACCC investigations, and large-scale tax disputes.

In Brisbane, Bridget Camilleri joins as partner from Cooper Grace Ward, where she was special counsel. She’s a commercial litigator with significant expertise in corporate fraud and asset recovery, including acting in a high-profile fraud matter involving $20m+.

“Duncan and Bridget are both highly respected litigators who bring extensive experience managing complex, high-stakes disputes across a range of sectors,” said National Head of Disputes Greg Wrobel.

The mid-tier lateral market is running hot.
