The hire bolsters the firm’s capital solutions offering as sponsors chase complex financing.
HSF Kramer has poached Rachel Jones from Squire Patton Boggs, adding a leveraged finance heavyweight to its Sydney Finance & Restructuring practice.
Jones brings 20+ years’ experience on complex financing transactions and restructurings across Australia, NZ and the UK.
She’s a Gilbert + Tobin alum, having spent 11 years there and rising from banking and infrastructure lawyer to special counsel before joining Squires as a partner in 2023.
She acts for big domestic and international sponsors, banks and financial institutions.
Her deal sheet includes advising Telstra on financing its US$1.6bn Digicel Pacific acquisition, Coca-Cola Amatil on its financing arrangements around the $9.8bn takeover by Coca-Cola European Partners, and the lending syndicate on Perth Airport’s $1bn financing.
Her arrival bolsters HSF Kramer’s growing capital solutions offering, which brings finance, private capital, corporate and restructuring under one roof.
Asia Australia Finance & Restructuring managing partner Jinny Chaimungkalanont said the hire lands at a pivotal time in the market. “Her arrival is an important step in advancing our private capital strategy and strengthening our capital solutions and restructuring offering to clients.” Meanwhile, Asia Australia Corporate managing partner Matthew FitzGerald called out a rapidly evolving market where “sponsors are seeking advisers who can navigate complex capital structures.”
Jones said the firm’s recently merged platform aligns with her clients’ needs. “Joining HSF Kramer’s market-leading finance and restructuring practice offers an unmatched global and domestic platform that aligns perfectly with the complex needs of my clients.”
