Jones Day hires structured finance heavyweight Benjamin Downie from Allens.
The move expands the firm’s global financial markets capability across Asia Pacific.
Jones Day has tapped Benjamin Downie as its newest Financial Markets partner in Sydney, recruiting the veteran from Allens.
Downie brings 24 years’ experience advising sponsors, originators, PE funds, domestic and international banks on credit and private capital raisings.
He’s worked on transactions ranging from structured credit for M&A, commercial real estate warehousing, through to dealer floorplan and retail off-take programs in the automotive market.
He joins a 320-lawyer global practice that has closed more than $1tn in financing deals over the last five years.
Sydney partner-in-charge Chris Ahern called him a “go-to lawyer in Australia” for securitisations, private placements, acquisition financing and debt capital markets.
