The Brief:
Mallesons steers AusPost through the regulatory, IP and contractual work behind its first blockchain-enabled digital stamp
The product, DigiStamps, pairs a traditional physical stamp with a digital collectible token
King & Wood Mallesons has advised Australia Post on the launch of DigiStamps, its first blockchain-enabled digital stamp collectible.
The product pairs a traditional physical stamp with a digital collectible token, accessible via a QR code or NFC chip on the stamp card. It marks an evolution of Australia Post's long-running philatelic program into the digital space.
Mallesons assisted with structuring from inception to launch, advising on the regulatory, contractual and intellectual property aspects of the offering.
Who acted
The work was led by partner Urszula McCormack, supported by partner Scott Bouvier, special counsel Yish Gong and solicitor Shannon Hatheier.
What they said
McCormack said:
“Blockchain technology provides a fresh way to elevate these principles and build great engagement with customers. We were immensely proud to support the wonderful Australia Post team on this project."
