The Brief:

  • MinterEllison has appointed Lee Horan as Head of Private Equity.

  • Horan joins after 20 years at KWM.

After two decades at King & Wood Mallesons, Lee Horan is making the jump to MinterEllison, taking the reins as the firm’s new Head of Private Equity.

His client roster includes BGH Capital, EQT Partners, Apollo Global Management, CIC, Adamantem and Affinity Equity Partners. He’ll work alongside Joseph Pace, Shaun Clyne and Louella Stone, deepening MinterEllison’s bench in private equity and public M&A.

Horan’s deal sheet spans multiple landmark transactions:

  • KKR’s acquisition of Zenith Energy

  • KKR’s acquisition of Pepper Limited

  • Affinity’s acquisition of Scottish Pacific

  • Citigroup’s sale of its Aussie banking business to NAB

  • BGH Capital’s schemes to acquire Abano and 1300 Smiles

His move comes amid a wave of senior M&A shifts this year, following Tony Damian’s move from HSF Kramer to Ashurst and Tim Gordon’s jump from G+T to Corrs.

It’s clear there’s fierce competition for Australia’s top corporate dealmakers.
