The Brief:
Lander & Rogers appoints partners Tom Jarvis and Christopher Sones, plus an eight-person team, in Melbourne.
The hires deepen the firm’s regulatory enforcement and Commonwealth government capability nationally.
Lander & Rogers has added a full regulatory litigation team in Melbourne, appointing partners Tom Jarvis and Christopher Sones to its Commercial Disputes practice from 1 June 2026.
The duo joins from Johnson Winter Slattery, bringing nine others across:
Special Counsel Brendan Donohue
Senior Associates Karl Barnett, Erin Condello and Madison Lardner
Lawyers Sasie Wijewardana, Shreya Tiwari and Caitlin O’Dwyer
Legal Assistant Jeanette Nunn.
Jarvis is one of Australia's most recognised regulatory litigators, with more than 35 years’ experience across complex litigation, regulatory disputes and public inquiries. Sones brings deep expertise in enforcement proceedings, particularly across financial services and consumer protection.
Over the past decade, both have acted for Commonwealth regulators, including ASIC, the ACCC, AUSTRAC and the eSafety Commissioner in some of the country’s most significant matters.
Practice Group Head Johnathan Quilty said the appointments significantly enhance the firm’s capability for clients in heavily regulated sectors.
We see significant opportunity to support clients facing increasingly complex regulatory and enforcement environments, and we are looking forward to working with colleagues across the firm to continue building the practice nationally.
The move continues Landers’ sustained push on disputes, with Kelly Coulston joining as a partner in the Brisbane Commercial Disputes practice earlier this year.
