The Brief:
Legora acquires Canadian startup Walter AI in its first-ever acquisition.
The deal lands days after a US$550m Series D, tripling Legora's valuation to US$5.5bn.
Swedish legal AI player Legora has made its first acquisition, buying Canadian startup Walter AI.
The move comes just days after the platform closed a US$550m (A$772m) Series D led by Accel, nearly tripling its valuation to US$5.5bn.
Walter AI builds agent-driven tools for transactional lawyers, covering drafting, editing, data extraction and document automation. Its platform plugs directly into Microsoft Outlook and iManage.
“When we saw what the Walter team had built, we immediately recognized a shared philosophy around agent-native design,” Legora’s CEO Max Junestrand said.
While the financial terms of the acquisition weren’t disclosed, what’s clear is that the move strengthens Legora’s global push.
It has recently added HSF Kramer and Barclays to its client list, with Allens and Minters already early adopters.
