The Brief:
Legora launches Skills, letting legal teams teach its Agent their standards, processes and preferences.
It ships with 250+ ready-made Skills across practice areas and jurisdictions.
The legal AI war has moved from what the tech can do to how well it knows you.
Legora’s latest play is Skills, a feature that lets legal teams encode their standards, processes and preferences into its AI Agent.
It’s now live for all Legora customers.
Every legal team knows the law. What sets them apart is how they practise it: the positions they take, how they structure advice and the tone they strike with the other side.
That know-how often sits in playbooks, precedents or the heads of senior lawyers. Skills turns it into instructions the Agent can follow.
How it works
A Skill is a set of instructions for a specific task. For example, how your team reviews a supplier agreement, including the fallback positions on certain clauses. Or how a partner wants a client advice note laid out.
Firms can add templates, reference docs and past examples, including examples of what not to do.
Lawyers prompt the Agent as normal. If a relevant Skill exists, the Agent uses it. If not, it can build one from your past work or by asking a few questions.
A Skill can start with one lawyer and then be shared with their team. Or a firm’s knowledge or innovation team can make Skills available firm-wide for things like house styles and negotiating positions.
Legora’s library already holds 250+ Skills across practice areas and jurisdictions.
Here are the guardrails:
Nothing gets added to your Agent unless you install it.
Sharing firm-wide needs permission, and admins can pull a Skill.
Every Skill can be read, and it only changes when someone edits it.
A Skill used on one matter doesn't carry information into another.
Last month, Harvey launched Memory, which learns a lawyer’s preferences as they work, with firm-wide memory still to come. Both platforms are chasing the same thing: AI that works the way you do.
