The Brief:
HWLE Lawyers picks Legora as its firmwide AI platform, rolling out to 1,900+ lawyers from July.
The win hands Legora Australia’s biggest firm by partner numbers.
HWL Ebsworth has selected Legora as its firmwide AI platform, putting the Swedish legal AI startup inside Australia’s largest law firm by partner numbers.
The rollout goes live in July, putting Legora in the hands of more than 1,900 lawyers and staff across the firm’s national footprint.
The firm ran a controlled pilot first, stress-testing hundreds of use cases against defined risk guardrails. Legora’s governance, legal engineering and training capabilities came out on top. Its incoming agentic features sealed the deal.
CEO Kris Hopkins said: “As we enter a new phase for our firm backed by a period of strong growth, we are continuing to invest in our people, client experience and technology. This partnership is an exciting step forward in building on that growth to realise the full potential of the firm.”
The rollout comes with an AI governance committee, ongoing compliance training and dedicated time for practitioners to build expertise nationally.
For Legora, it’s a big win. The platform already counts Allens, MinterEllison, HSF Kramer, K&L Gates Australia, Baker McKenzie and Pinsent Masons as Australian clients, and HWLE is its biggest yet.
HWLE’s selection of Legora is a significant moment for us in the region. Partnering with the largest law firm in Australia by partner numbers reflects the momentum we are seeing across the market.
Rival Harvey still holds Mallesons, Ashurst, Clayton Utz, Corrs and G+T.
