Richard Scruby SC, a 24-year veteran of the NSW Bar, is joining the Supreme Court of NSW.

Scruby has been a member of the NSW Bar since 2002, with a broad practice spanning corporations, commercial, equity, insolvency and taxation matters. He kicked off his career as an associate to Justice Ian Callinan in the High Court of Australia in 1999, before joining Tenth Floor Wentworth Selborne Chambers in 2004. He took silk in 2017.

He has written for the Australian Bar Review and Australian Law Journal on contracts and corporations law. He’s also served as a member of the NSW Bar Association’s Professional Conduct and Diversity and Equity committees.

Scruby will be sworn into the Equity Division of the Supreme Court on 3 September.

The appointment follows fellow silks Katherine Richardson SC joining the court in May and Helen Roberts SC in March.
