The Brief:

  • Mallesons has promoted nine lawyers to partner, effective 1 July 2026, more than doubling last year’s four promotions.

  • The cohort spans leveraged finance, restructuring, IP, ESG, tax and energy across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Mallesons has announced its first partner promotion round since rebranding, naming nine new partners effective 1 July 2026.

That’s more than double last year’s intake of four under the former King & Wood Mallesons banner.

The cohort spans the firm’s core practices, covering leveraged finance, restructuring and insolvency, IP disputes, corporate governance and ESG, tax, and energy across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

The new partners are:

  • Zoe Anderson, Banking & Finance, Sydney

  • Maggie Chan, Dispute Resolution, Sydney

  • Bridie Egan, Dispute Resolution, Melbourne

  • Zoe Kaesehagen, Banking & Finance, Sydney

  • Joanne Langford, Tax, Sydney

  • Amelia Mellor, Energy, Resources and Infrastructure, Perth

  • Emma Newnham, Mergers & Acquisitions, Melbourne

  • Stephen Sharpe, Banking & Finance, Sydney

  • Kat Tomasic, Banking & Finance, Melbourne

Banking and finance is the standout driver, claiming four of the nine spots. It’s no surprise — Mallesons has long held one of the strongest banking benches in the Australian market, and this round deepens that further.

Chief Executive Partner Renae Lattey said: “We are proud to announce our first new partner cohort since we entered our new era as Mallesons. This next generation will drive our firm’s vision to be the firm trusted most with our client’s future in a world that never stands still.
