The Brief:
DLA Piper bolsters its APAC finance bench with Sydney partner Ryan Iskandar.
The hire continues the firm’s Aussie expansion, following moves in energy and tax.
DLA Piper is back in hiring mode, landing structured finance specialist Ryan Iskandar as a partner in Sydney.
He joins from Mallesons, where he spent more than six years as special counsel.
Iskandar brings a derivatives, securitisation and structured finance practice, advising fund managers, asset managers, banks and other financial institutions on complex financial markets matters, fund-linked and private credit transactions, and derivatives across a broad range of asset classes.
His practice has a strong regional bent, with a particular focus on Asia Pacific and cross-border deals.
He’ll also open the door to DLA’s wider global platform, connecting clients with its tax, financial regulatory, funds and restructuring experts.
Ryan brings a wealth of global experience that will elevate our practice not only in Australia, but across Asia Pacific. With a strong structured finance practice, Ryan has built an impressive track record advising clients on complex and innovative transactions across multiple markets.
The move continues a hot streak for DLA Piper in Australia. It follows Nikki van der Meer’s jump from Ashurst to its Perth Projects team and Craig Silverwood’s arrival from MinterEllison to lead APAC transfer pricing.
