The Brief:

  • Mills Oakley has added three partners across its government, tax and workplace relations practices.

  • The hires bring experience from Clayton Utz, Mallesons and HWL Ebsworth.

Mills Oakley has bolstered its national bench with three partner appointments: Kym Fraser, John Boyagi and Jonathan Nguyen.

  • Fraser joins in Sydney from Clayton Utz, where he spent over two decades. A leading public law and commercial litigator with 30+ years’ experience, with a focus on judicial review, major infrastructure and environmental and planning disputes. His resume includes lead roles in several major Royal Commissions, including the Banking and Financial Services Royal Commission, the “Lawyer X” Inquiry and the Hotel Quarantine Inquiry.

  • Boyagi arrives in Sydney from Mallesons, where he was special counsel. He advises multinationals, listed entities and ultra high net worth individuals on complex, high-value tax disputes. Boyagi has particular expertise in transfer pricing, anti-avoidance and cross-border structuring.

  • Nguyen rounds out the trio, returning to Mills Oakley in Melbourne after a stint as special counsel at HWL Ebsworth. He brings 25+ years advising employers, employees and unions on employment and industrial relations across banking, manufacturing, aged care and retail.
