The Brief:

  • Mills Oakley has snapped up a mining and resources team of eight from GRT Lawyers.

  • Consultant Glenn Vassallo leads the group alongside partners Scott Standen and Rachel Hendrie.

Mills Oakley has added serious firepower to its mining and resources bench, hiring an eight-strong specialist team from boutique firm GRT Lawyers in Brisbane.

Glenn Vassallo leads the group, joining initially as a consultant, alongside partners Scott Standen and Rachel Hendrie.

The team also includes special counsel Alana Nisbet, senior associate Dale Copley, associate Meghan Bower, and lawyers Ashleigh Weeks and Bryce Hegarty.

Together they cover corporate advisory, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance and FIRB advice.

Vassallo said the move enables the team to utilise the "the cross-referral skills of a wealth of Mills Oakley talent, across many jurisdictions". For clients, this broad skill set will help them navigate "complex operational, financial, and regulatory challenges."

CEO John Nerurker said the timing is deliberate:

"Glenn, Scott, Rachel, and their team bring deep sector expertise and strong market credibility to Mills Oakley at a time when the mining and resources sector is facing increasingly complex commercial, regulatory and operational demands."
