The Brief:
Norton Rose Fulbright has poached Daniel Lin from Sidley, where he was co-managing partner of the Tokyo office.
Lin joins across NRF’s Sydney and Tokyo offices as the firm doubles down on Asia-Pacific growth.
Norton Rose Fulbright has snapped up energy and infrastructure partner Daniel Lin, recruiting the new partner to work across its Sydney and Tokyo offices.
Lin joins from global US firm Sidley, where he served as co-managing partner of the Tokyo office.
He brings deep experience advising on energy, infrastructure and general corporate transactions across Japan, South-East Asia, the Americas and Europe. His clients span utilities, trading companies, infrastructure investors, corporates and financial institutions, with a particular focus on Japan inbound and outbound investments.
Global managing partner Peter Scott said Asia-Pacific growth is a priority for the firm.
“Growth in Asia Pacific in support of our clients is a priority for Norton Rose Fulbright, following the integration of the firm’s Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific (EMEAPAC) offices last year. We are therefore delighted to have Daniel join us, with his long history of advising clients on energy and infrastructure projects in Asia Pacific and his strong knowledge of Japan outbound M&A and financing matters.”
Lin said the firm’s cross-border reach sealed the deal.
“The firm's full-service global offering across all energy and infrastructure matters, particularly across Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the US, was a major drawcard and I look forward to collaborating with the firm’s partners across borders for the benefit of our clients.”
The hire follows banking and finance partner Brad Robinson joining in January, and continues a steady run of senior appointments as NRF builds out its Aussie bench.
