The Brief:

  • Pinsent Masons hires Jonathan Stafford as a projects partner.

  • The contractor-side specialist lands in Sydney after a short stint at Dentons.

Pinsent Masons has poached Jonathan Stafford from Dentons, adding the infrastructure specialist to its Sydney projects team.

Stafford has spent 20+ years in the contractor’s corner, steering clients through bids, contracts and delivery on major energy and infrastructure jobs.

Tier 1 contractors are his bread and butter, with work spanning transport, energy, telecoms and social infrastructure.

He’s also done time on the other side of the desk. He’s done two years seconded to Downer as Executive General Manager, where he led its winning bids for the Sydney Growth Trains and High Capacity Metro Trains PPPs.

Stafford joined Dentons in February. Before that, he spent:

  • 6+ years as a partner at DLA Piper, acting for contractors on rail, road and energy projects.

  • 6+ years as a partner at Colin Biggers & Paisley, doing front-end construction work on road, rail, ports, schools and hospital PPPs.

Head of Asia Pacific James Morgan-Payler said Stafford’s mix of private practice and industry experience makes him a strong fit.

❝

Jonathan brings a strong track record advising contractors on some of the market’s most significant projects, together with valuable experience gained from working within a major infrastructure business. That combination makes him an outstanding addition to our team.
