The Brief:

  • Michelle Power and Amanda Watt have left MinterEllison after 30-plus years each to launch Power & Watt Mediation & Advisory.

  • The pair started as graduates at the same firm. Now they're running their own show.

Two long-serving MinterEllison senior partners have gone boutique, launching Power & Watt Mediation & Advisory in Melbourne.

Michelle Power and Amanda Watt each spent more than three decades at Minters.

  • Power sat on the Executive Leadership Team and served as Managing Partner, Markets, all while continuing to run a disputes practice.

  • Watt was a board member and chaired the firm's Diversity Committee, with a practice built around employment, industrial relations and workplace culture.

The new firm offers mediation, strategic advisory on complex disputes and workplace challenges, and fractional engagements for clients who need specialist, tailored expertise.

Their practices fit together neatly.

Power handles commercial and real estate disputes and intergenerational family wealth matters. Watt covers employment and industrial relations, governance and systemic workplace challenges.

We are working differently, providing focused, one-to-one attention to a select number of client engagements. This enables us to bring clarity to complex issues and deliver practical, considered outcomes.

The pair began their careers as graduates together at MinterEllison. Thirty-plus years later, the partnership continues — just with their names on the door.
