The Brief:
Clayton Utz has appointed environment and planning specialist Rebecca Hoare to its partnership.
She joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she led the firm’s national Environment and Planning practice.
After 23 years at Norton Rose Fulbright, environment and planning specialist Rebecca Hoare has made the move to Clayton Utz.
At NRF, Hoare was a partner and national Environment and Planning team leader in Brisbane. She brings 25 years’ experience across environmental and planning law, climate change and major project approvals.
Her practice runs across local and state government, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, property and construction.
On the environment side, she covers due diligence, project approvals, contaminated land, environmental offsets, incident response and enforcement.
On the planning side, she advises on approvals, enforcement and appeals in the Planning and Environment Court.
She’s also well versed in compulsory acquisition, advising acquiring authorities on the process and negotiated compensation outcomes under the Acquisition of Land Act 1967 (Qld), plus mining compensation under the Mineral Resources Act 1989 (Qld).
Chief Executive Partner Emma Covacevich said the hire keeps the firm ahead of the curve as regulation shifts across environmental approvals, energy transition and land use.
Her focus on translating complex regulatory reform into practical client guidance is exactly the kind of capability our clients need as the regulatory landscape continues to evolve.
She started at Clayton Utz on 17 August.
