Corrs Chambers Westgarth has landed James Campisi as a partner in its corporate team in Sydney.
He joins from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett’s London office, where he built a reputation advising on high-stakes private equity and cross-border deals.
Corrs Chambers Westgarth has bolstered its corporate bench, snapping up James Campisi as a partner in Sydney.
Campisi joins from BigLaw giant Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he spent seven years in London, the last two-plus as partner. Before that, he started his career at Gilbert + Tobin in Sydney.
The move was first reported by the AFR back in May, with Campisi officially starting at the firm in June.
He brings 16+ years’ experience and an impressive private equity client list to match, having advised sponsors and corporates including Apax Partners, Blackstone, KKR, CVC, Silver Lake and Nordic Capital on complex, high-value deals across global markets.
His deal sheet covers private acquisitions, public takeovers, carve-outs, consortium deals, growth investments and strategic minority and hybrid investments, plus deep sector expertise across technology, financial services, consumer, services, real estate and infrastructure.
James has significant experience in the London market advising private equity clients and strategics on their most challenging cross-border transactions. His appointment will further enhance the firm’s strong capabilities in this area.
It’s the latest lateral for Corrs, following the firm’s April hire of competition specialist Eloise Morgan from Magic Circle firm Slaughter & May.
