Gilbert + Tobin has named seven new partners effective 1 July 2026, its biggest promotion round in recent years.
In the last few years, G+T have typically promoted 3-4 lawyers to partner. This year, it’s seven — more than double last year's intake of three.
The cohort spans the firm’s core practices, covering corporate advisory, disputes and investigations, energy, resources and infrastructure, tax, pro bono and charities across its national offices.
The new partners are:
Matthew Charman, Tax, Sydney
Matthew Coe, Corporate Advisory, Sydney
Andrew Earle, Corporate Advisory, Melbourne
Nicole Lojszczyk, Pro Bono, Sydney
Christopher Marchesi, Energy, Resources and Infrastructure, Perth
Lauren Shave, Disputes and Investigations, Perth
Elizabeth Wighton, Charities and Social Sector, Sydney
Nine lawyers were also promoted to special counsel.
The firm’s intake mirrors a broader industry trend of promoting more partners. Mallesons and Allens both doubled their partner promotions this year compared to last.
Co-founder and Chairman Danny Gilbert said: “Each of them brings the judgement, energy and commitment to excellence that clients expect from G+T. Their promotions reflect the strength of our people and the depth of talent we are building across the firm.”
