The Brief:
Hall & Wilcox has hired cyber and privacy lawyer Zoe Tishler as a partner in Sydney.
Tishler steps up from special counsel at HWLE.
Hall & Wilcox has snapped up HWLE cyber specialist Zoe Tishler, appointing her as a partner in Sydney.
It’s a step up to partnership for Tishler, who spent more than eight years at HWLE, rising from graduate-at-law in 2018 to special counsel in 2024.
She’s a go-to for insurers, government agencies and private sector organisations navigating cyber and privacy risk, from prevention and preparedness through to incident response and recovery.
Her track record includes:
helping a large national law firm secure a first-of-its-kind injunction against a cyber threat actor in the Supreme Court of NSW
advising a payroll software-as-a-service provider on a ransomware attack that required notifying 100,000+ individuals
advising a credit union on ASIC, APRA and OAIC obligations following a business email compromise
Cyber is no longer an issue that sits within one part of an organisation. The legal, regulatory, commercial and reputational implications are increasingly interconnected, and clients need advisers who understand that broader picture.
Cyber incidents are increasingly colliding with regulatory, privacy, insurance, employment and broader commercial issues, and law firms are building out their benches to match.
The move follows Gilbert + Tobin’s hire of cyber risk partner Ross Phillipson from A&O Shearman in January.
