The Brief:

  • Legora locks in a major Australian expansion.

  • The AI platform has opened an office in Sydney and announced three senior hires.

Legora has officially cemented its foothold in Australia, opening a new Sydney office and unveiling three senior legal engineer hires as it steps up its APAC push.

The AI platform is making headway post its US$150m raise. Its US$1.8bn valuation has unlocked major plays, including most recently a real-time collaborative tool for law firms and clients.

The hires

Graeme Grovum, Kosta Hountalas and Murray Edstein all join Stockholm-based start-up as senior legal engineers.

Grovum previously led Allens’ legal tech and client services. Hountalas and Edstein join from Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, with Edstein also having worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company.

Sector momentum

Legora’s global footprint has surged from 250 to 550 customers since May 2025, with the platform now operating in more than 50 markets. Now the Harvey contender — backed by Aussie top-tiers like MinterEllison and Allens — is opening a Sydney office and securing hires from those very firms.
